What is F3?

Started in 2011 in Charlotte, North Carolina, F3 expanded quickly to the Huntersville/Cornelius area. We currently lead 33 workouts each week through the volunteer efforts of men whose lives have been changed by their involvement with F3.

The three Fs in our name stand for Fitness, Fellowship and Faith — the last of which we define as not one specific religion or faith system, but simply a belief in something outside oneself.

Our Five Core Principles

Free of Charge

F3 is free! Never a charge, just show up

Open to All Men

No matter the man, you are welcome here

Held Outdoors

Rain or shine, hot or cold, we’re out there

Peer Led

Led in a rotating fashion by the men who attend

Ends with COT

Always ends with a Circle of Trust

Are you new?

Maybe there’s an F3 guy you know that won’t shut up about us. Maybe you saw us in Men’s Health magazine. Or maybe you were out on a run and heard us!

Whatever brings you here today just know we’re glad you’re here and we want you out there in the gloom with us.

What you need to know:

  • First, know that we don’t care what shape you’re in, what size you are, or how old you are. No excuses, just show up.
  • Head over to our Calendar to find a workout to attend and then just show up or find a workout below on our workout map
  • Follow @F3Isotope on Twitter
  • We start on time and end on time. Plan to arrive a few minutes early
  • Your first workout you’ll be known as “FNG” – Friendly New Guy. Complete two workouts and we’ll give you an F3 nickname

YOU’VE GOT QUESTIONS, WE’VE GOT ANSWERS

What is an FNG?

FNG just stands for Friendly New Guy! We love FNGs. Now ditch the excuses and show up at a workout.

Do I need to register before I show up for a workout (we call it posting)?

Absolutely not! Just show up a couple minutes early. Even better, bring a friend.

What is with the nicknames?

We have a nickname for everything. Don’t worry, you’ll get one too after you complete two F3 workouts. Our lexicon binds us together. If you want the long winded explanation, read “Freed to Lead” by Dread and OBT and they will give you the full background.

Who leads the workouts?

The “Q” will be the leader for the day. He is not a professional. He is just one of the pax who is volunteering to lead the workout for that day. After about 3 months of posting consistently, you’ll be encouraged to give Qing a shot as well!

How long do the workouts last and why do they start so early in the morning?

Typically, F3 workouts will last 45 min and start promptly at 0530. Most pax have families so we knock out our fitness, fellowship, and faith before our families are even up and ready for the day.

How do you all communicate?

Most of our communication outside of workouts happens on Twitter and this website. Sign up for an account and go ahead and follow @F3Isotope and your fellow pax. You will also want to create an account on this website so that you can be counted in backblasts, sign up to Q, and post backblasts after you Q.
